Summary

To avoid interviewer bias, the participant goes to a booth and talks to the camera about the topics given to her/him. Videorecording may bring out more hedonic aspects than with an interviewer, because participants want to act rationally with the interviewer.

Description

Typically, private camera conversation happens after the participant has played with a prototype for a while, but videorecording can happen also during the test use.

Strengths

May trigger more authentic experiential data than a normal face-to-face interview. If 2 friends are in the booth together, the discussion might reveal interesting experiential aspects.

Weaknesses

No quarantee that the participant talks about the topics that are of interest to the researcher. Not all kinds of participants feel convenient talking to a video camera.
